Moncton Oct and Nov 2009

Nov 17/09

Well I moved out the room on St George street as of Oct 16/09. I couldn't take anymore of the bullshit from the female roommate and the other female with no place else to go. Why is it some people think the only way to talk to people is by cursing and swearing at the top of your lungs. Oh well, the guy roommate was very relaxed even with all the chaos in the house. I'm glad I got out.
I then rented a room on Dominion street. The power kept going out and fried my Wifi. The shower was hillarious. It was so short that I had to bend over to wash my hair. Oh well at least no-one was screaming and cursing all the time but i just couldn't get comfortable.
Nov1/09 I moved into a main floor 1bdrm. $540/mnth plus utilities includes a washer and dryer. Which is a little pricey for Moncton. The Average price for a 1bdrm is $450 to $500 and usually includes utilites. There is an apartment above me but they seem to be very quiet.
The real shocker is that NB power wanted a $360 deposit. They state the average bill for this apartment is $170 per month. Holy shit!!!!! Oh well it's not a room in a rooming house so I'm happy. It's still cheaper than my two bedroom in Red Deer which was $900 plus electric of about $50-$75.
Nov 4/09 I finished my training at Rogers. Lots of perks with this job. Benefits from day1 $14.05/hour which is not much by Alberta standards but a more than fair wage for what i am doing here. As well there are quarterly performance bonuses from $300 to $1200. From what I hear you get $300 bonus just for showing up everyday. I can live with that. :-)
All in all things are going ok. I bought $210 worth of groceries & pantry items. I needed everything, Ketchup, relish etc, Tinfoil, saran wrap, etc, salt, pepper, sugar, spices, creamer, etc. I also spent $180 on a meat slicer, pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, a computer desk and chair. I forgot to buy a roaster , spatulas, serving spoons, etc. oh I will get those on my Dec 11 payday. I also still need to get a tv, couch and chair, dining set, and a bed. After that I think I can consider myself settled.
Once I am completely settled in I will start concentrating on a motorcycle, van, and to purchase a house. I also need to make a trip or two ASAP to visit friends and family.

My next blog post will be a batch of photos taken in sept and october.  I am waiting for the snow to start flying before I add another blog after the pictures one coming up next. All in all Moncton is a beautiful city and I seem to be fitting in fine with the many wonderful people I have met here so far.

As Always
have fun
stay safe
Jim
